The Future is Now for Coney!

It doesn’t get better than this.  Where else can you take a walk on the boardwalk and see the Coney Island Aquarium, Deno’s Wonder Wheel, Coney Island Cyclone, Key Span Park, all the while eating a hot dog from Nathan’s and visiting the Coney Island Museum?  Then there’s the Mermaid Parade, Coney Island Arcades, Coney Island History Project, and Abe Stark Ice Skating Rink.

I consider myself the greatest fan of Coney Island.  I was even once called the “King of Coney Island.”

Contrary to what some vocal critics would have you believe, many people welcome the revitalization of Coney. I can see it now -- Coney Island Amusement area open 12 months a year.  Children and families  lining up to go into the new indoor Water Park, visiting the expanded Coney Island Aquarium, and going to the movies and dinner at night.  I don’t have a crystal ball, but I can also see a new gymnasium for P.S. 188 and a YMCA Community Center being built.

The future of Coney Island wouldn’t be possible without Mayor Bloomberg, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Councilman Domenic Recchia, Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny, State Senator Diane Savino, and Congressman Jerrold Nadler, and the Coney Island Development Corporation.

Coney Island is the place to be and the future is just ahead.

I’ll see you on the boardwalk!
