Bay elder killed in hit-and-run
Milton Levine, a 91-year-old Sheepshead Bay resident, died Thursday afternoon, June 16 after he was struck by a gray Nissan Pathfinder turning onto Nostrand Avenue at Avenue Y and then run over by another car as he lay in the street.

Graffiti finally removed from OTB building
We don't know whether it was because we reported on the problem, but the serious graffiti that had enveloped the abandoned OTB building on Avenue U at East 29th Street in Marine Park finally has been removed.

Sheepshead Bay man accused of two-day killing spree
“Rot in Hell!” and “Pig!” onlookers shouted Sunday, Feb. 13 as 23-year-old Maksim Gelman was led from the 61st Precinct house on Coney Island Avenue to his arraignment on a slew of murder and assault charges.

Tenants’ rights advocate Jerry O’Shea dies at 76
‘The borough has lost a humanitarian’
Jeremiah “Jerry” O’Shea, who had left a lucrative Wall Street job to advocate for tenants’ rights, died Sunday, Nov. 14. He was 76 years old.

· The agenda includes preparation of Thanksgiving food baskets for distribution to needy families.
Non-perishable foods that you might serve on Thanksgiving are being collected until Nov. 18 at: Michael’s Bakery, JoMart Chocolates, Pronto Pizza, Tom’s Cleaners, Buckley’s Restaurant, Ave. U Fish Market, G & S Pork Store, and Roosevelt Savings Bank. Frozen turkeys and donations (payable to Madison-Marine Civic) also may brought to the Nov. 18 meeting. For information: 917-538-6803.
